I think adding a guy that was a former top 50 player was a feel good story for the program, but anyone following the fact that he was buried on the depth chart at Bama knew how this was going to play out. It was always unlikely he was ever going to turn into a starter level player.
In the portal era give me a G5 starter over a P5 backup all day.

My mailbag question was asking the same basic thing. So…. I’d love more information here.
I thought he looked decent last year, and now we are short bodies at LB. I’m just not understanding how he doesn’t factor in? Was he just a colossal miss or is there something more happening here?

He’s stiff and slow.

Alexander is a tweener...he's not a natural LB but not a DE. He is one of the hardest workers on the team and with the situation we are in the hope is Allen can figure out a role. He's athletic and he has some tools but he's just not a true DE or LB...tough spot

If they can find the right way to use him I think he can be a great player. He’s good against the run when you go 4-3 and stack the box, but he’s not very good in coverage.

He reminds me of that LB that went to Colorado. He's a thumper in run support but doesn't have the skill set to be an every down player.

Not utilized enough so far - hopefully that changes next season.
Not an every down LB, but should be on the field more in short yard situations and against running teams. Should also be used as an edge rusher on obvious passing downs.
