A part of me hates losing games like this, but adding the extra SEC game almost requires it.

Good. That’s a stupid game to play in the regular season.

The playoff committee appears to value W's, not strength of schedule. You gotta schedule what the committee wants to see.
It's just a freaking shame this is the message that is sent. But the AD's job is to hear and understand the message and schedule accordingly.
The BASKETBALL COMMITTEE absolutely rewards you for scheduling tough. It's almost like they are promoting the sport. lol
The football committee apparently wants to see Alabama versus Akron. Give them what they want.

No incentive to play it. Cupcakes only in non-con from here on out.

I hate this but I get it. I still wouldn’t do it if I was in charge though.

I don't think I'm going to trust reporting done by Paul FInebuam where he also says "the Crimson Tide is in a “shaky situation” and that HC Kalen DeBoer is “in trouble”"

Good, schedule a cupcake like the rest of CFB, it does Bama no good to play this game.

Back in the day that would've been a series to remember for a long time! But in today's environment of only being about wins and losses to get in the playoff, it's just not a smart move for us with this conference and playing 9 conference games! Good strategic move!

I hate it, would've loved to go to the one in Columbus or T-Town but like everyone has said above, got to schedule what the committee values, which are wins against sh*t competition.

Hate this.
Also, part of me thinks the risk-reward is not as one-sided as some think. Gives a chance to bolster the resume with a marquee win, especially when the SEC schedule is meh.

FuGeeLaw3224 said:I agree, but the field isn't big enough, like basketball, for those games to not hurt you if you lose. Texas for example, if they didn't lose week 1 to OSU, would they have been in the playoff field? Michigan losing to Oklahoma kept them out. If either of those teams schedule "cupcake" games with weaker opponents they would've had one less loss and a better argument to be in the CFP.Hate this. I would hate it. I don't care about the politics, I want to play the best and beat the best. Especially Ohio State, they're #1 on my perennial hate list now that Notre Dame isn't what it used to be.

Finebaum has no extra insight. It's pretty obvious this will get canceled but it's not like he has some insider level knowledge here. That guy is the freakin worst
