Mike’s Biggest Mistake

Not paying Ward and thinking he could put DJU behind our OL. The fact that Joseph is at Wisconsin leads me thinking they already out bid us. Talking to Lagway and Daniels is similar to the DJU project. Hopefully there are enough evaluators around to get this right.

Nope. The biggest mistake was assuming the trash Oline and Oline coach were good, when in reality, JT and Trey Benson, masked a failed group.

We weren't going to outbid Miami. We could have pushed harder and tried to drive the price on them, but we were never signing him. Also, you forget that he declared for the NFL draft. I think we were trying to get someone signed before the spring semester started and he wasn't even available at that point. Miami is on a different academic schedule.

His biggest mistake is telling recruits we can win with or without them. Talent matters when coaching is subpar. You have two contrasting examples in Miami and Indiana. Our coaching staff needs to follow the Miami method.

Ward was not going to be what he was behind that Oline with no run game. (not to mention that receiving group dropping passes) I said it early last year. If you put Tom Brady behind that line with that run game he fails. The much larger mistake was the mis evaluation of the Oline. Now we may not be 2-10 but we might have won 5-6 games so it would have still been considered disaster.

Biggest mistake was hiring Allen and Atkins (along with the position coaches). FSU went 10-3 and 13-0 in spite of the coaching staff, not because of it. Jordan Travis was a unicorn.

Ward did not declare for the NFL draft UNTIL talks with FSU ended on Dec. 31. He declared the next day. Without an agent.

Exactly, he used the threat of the draft to get the most amount of money out of Miami. Miami got desperate late in the game and gave in to his financial demands on Jan 14 when they had exhausted all other options. People love to ignore the realities of history.

2025 was the result of five years of mistakes. One player was not going to overcome that.

They also had like 2 additional weeks to get him enrolled so they had time to wait.

Also, look at Norvell's incredible whiffs at the critical QB position, whether in the portal or at the high school level. He simply cannot identify, and then attract, anyone who is actually "good" at that important position.

Or Norvel wanted him and couldn’t pay him 10 million and match miami. 4.7 and the rest under the table You don’t know Joseph is their top pick.

his biggest mistake was not clearing out the previous sraff when they showed early on they were lazy recruiters

This team was doomed by poor tackling, horrific RB rotation, inexplicable play-calling, an unexplainable lack of effort, and a failure of leaders to emerge in virtually every player groups. One more, pathetic special teams. Just fair catch every punt!

^^^This coach mike has not identified and recruited one successful QB in 6 years. Travis, transferred under sweet willie. This level of football is just beyond coach mike. 9-3 looks like a miracle at this point.

Biggest mistake was taking a job he wasn’t anywhere near prepared for! This job has and will be over his head.

His two biggest mistakes were not declining that dog and pony show of a bowl game and DJU.
