Mitch Barnhart Salary

Mitch Barnhart signed a new contract on Monday that will make his official post-AD title "Executive in Residence for the UK Sports & Workforce Initiative." It comes with a $950,000 salary and 10 free tickets to every men's basketball, football, and baseball game. Barnhart was making $1.425 million a year, not including incentives, during his final year as the AD. His new title replaces the "special assistant to president" that was in his previously amended contract. They took that amendment out so I cant see what the specific compensation called for, but if I recall correctly, it was initially $800,000.

Maggie has been reading it this afternoon and dug up some other stuff, including (LOSING) two complimentary cars. (My bad, misread the Tweet initially.)

No wonder we had some many bad contracts. How does Eli approve this?

Why does he get two cars? That seems unnecessary when you make that much.

Reminds of how celebs are treated with free gift bags of expensive clothing/jewelry/watches/etc... Rich get richer.

Taking a $500k paycut AND losing your two free vehicles. How will he survive?

When was he convicted of any wrongdoing? I guess I missed that part. It’s crazy how people try to break other people down because they don’t like a certain person.

Isn’t it ironic how the high paying jobs in this world come with perks like that? “Hey we’re gonna pay you 800k now & also you no longer have to pay for a car or gas.”

According to what Maggie says, he’s losing the 2 cars. And I believe most every coach has these in their contracts - part of the Paul Miller sponsorship deal for UK Athletics.

OK, losing the cars makes much more sense.

Good to see the sweater vest mafia will still have premium seats for his free tickets while they get rid of UK Staff discounts. What an absolute corrupt old man.

He didn’t say Mitch actively covered it up, but it did happen under his watch. Also, he is currently named in the lawsuit by former swimmers saying he did know about it, so I don’t think this is some type of revelation.
