Very underwhelming Portal so far

I tend to believe it is a 2-10 team with a poor reputation over the past decade and Hunter exaggerating about the $$ available.

Except currently it is a Top 25 portal class. No one has a higher portal class ranking with fewer commits. They missed on Curne and a Pittsbugh kid chose to stay home and play for Pitt. I'm not saying much else that has gone not according to plan.

Im just waiting for our DL and OL to be finished. How he recruits the trenches will tell a lot on if Silverfield is ready for the SEC.

Good point but lack of guys and missing on some big ones is going to leave bottom of the barrel for the rest if we don't start getting some kids. Impatient I am definitely.

Its been 72 hours, my boy. Only teams hauling in studs are teams with great records and a ton of money. Getting the middle hanging fruit is going to take money, patience, relationships, etc.

If you were being recruited to Arkansas, LSU, Texas, Georgia and the likes and you had zero ties to Arkansas, would a team with a record since 2015 of 55-80 and conferance record for that time frame of 23-67 interest you? Be honest with your self.

Actually think the portal class is solid so far. Filling positions of need. Lots of P4 programs. Production in the G5. Good size/depth pieces. Still need some higher quality players, of course, and some filling out the depth chart, but so far I think they're replacing guys that left with better players. It's a start.

I get that but outside of Curne I just don't see any big misses from realistic targets. I still think things are going about how they planned it. I'm just not sure what some were expecting. Taking over the mess they took over on the field and off the field while considering how Pittman openly whined about NIL even to the degree of dissing his own players (although unintentionally) on national tv.....it is going as good as one could have objectively expected if not better. We are landing guys who had options to attend better programs.

True, it's no doubt more of how bad we've been the last 10 years than anything for sure. I was just hoping that we truly had money and that would make a difference. Just frustrating... we are going to have to overachieve for multiple years before we can truly expect to land big time players from the portal. Gonna be tough

I think that one year of overachieving will get us back on radar. People are pretending that they don't remember how competitive the Arkansas program can be but they haven't forgotten. More of a kick em while they are down type of situations.

Upsetting Utah in week two would go a long way towards changing the perception (assuming of course we didn’t crap the bed against North Alabama the week before).

I see you’re probably going to be miserable the entire time he’s going to be the coach here. The haul so far is a good one for where we are coming from, a 2-10 season. He’s proven he can turn a roster pretty quickly and compete. We aren’t bringing in NAIA players or a bunch of guys from shitty schools anymore, at least.
