AP Poll Top 25: College Football Rankings see big shake up after Week 1, new No. 1 team
The AP Poll Top 25 rankings are here following Week 1 of the college football season and there were some big shakeups. You’ll have to scroll to find out if there’s a new No. 1!
The SEC took some hits, but also had some big wins to fuel so many narratives. Maybe the ACC is the conference to watch out for this year?
So much went down across a few days and we can’t wait for more. Let’s dive into the latest AP Poll Top 25.
1. Ohio State (+2)
Ohio State dominated the day after beating down the Texas offense. Arch Manning was put into a blender for most of the game and the defending champs tried to remind folks who was the best.
Julian Sayin went 13-of-20 passing for 126 yards and a touchdown. Nothing crazy, but he was solid and the talent is there to get better. Fun fact, Ohio State held Texas to 5-of-14 on third down and 1-of-5 on fourth down.
2. Penn State

Penn State was a well oiled machine in a dominant win over Nevada, 46-11. Drew Allar went 22-of-26 passing for 217 yards and one touchdown.
Kaytron Allen added eight carries for 43 yards and a touchdown while Nick Singleton scored twice. New receivers Kyron Hudson and Trebor Pena combined for 13 catches for 163 yards and a touchdown.
3. LSU (+6)
Despite a low scoring affair, LSU got a massive win over Clemson on the road. Garrett Nussmeier was 28-of-38 for 230 yards and one touchdown in this one.
Caden Durham had 74 yards and a touchdown while the defense dominated. They forced Clemson QB Cade Klubnik into too many mistakes.
4. Georgia (+1)
The Gunner Stockton show is here! He threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns while running for 73 yards and scoring two more times.
Georgia rolled to a 45-7 win over Marshall to get the season off on the right foot. After the chaos this weekend, could you make an argument that this is the best team in the SEC?
5. Miami (+5)

Carson Beck led Miami to a massive victory over Notre Dame to open the season. He went 20-of-31 passing for 205 yards and two touchdowns and if he’s steady like that all season, watch out. With that, they moved up five spots in the AP Poll.
The Hurricanes were very physical in this one, but had to hang on for dear life in the fourth quarter where they gave up 17 points. Still, this is huge for the CFP resume.
6. Oregon (+1)
Oregon dominated Montana State, as expected. But the Ducks broke in QB Dante Moore, who went 18-of-23 passing for 213 yards and three touchdowns.
So overall, a solid day on both sides of the ball and Oklahoma State is next. Don’t forget about this team when it comes to the Big Ten race.

7. Texas (-6)
Texas struggled mightily on offense as Arch Manning looked lost most of the day. He missed throws, but still made some wow throws.
However, it wasn’t nearly enough to get it done on the road. Steve Sarkisian and crew have to go back to the drawing board so they don’t waste another stout defensive performance.
8. Clemson (-4)

Clemson struggled offensively but did enough on defense to win. If only the latter happened, we’d have a different conversation about the Tigers.
Cade Klubnik went just 19-of-38 for 230 yards and a touchdown. The run game was virtually non-existent as Adam Randall had 16 yards and a touchdown to lead the team.
9. Notre Dame (-3)
CJ Carr was solid in his starting QB debut for Notre Dame. He threw for 221 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
But Jeremiyah Love was notably not involved too much during the 27-24 loss to Miami. A furious comeback in the fourth quarter fell short, but the Irish should be fine.
10. South Carolina (+3)
LaNorris Sellers showed out in the South Carolina season opener! With the 24-11 win over Virginia Tech, the Gamecocks moved into the top 10 of the AP Poll.
Nyck Harbor also had a very productive game. He finished with three catches for 99 yards and one touchdowns. Sellers scored two total touchdowns and made an early Heisman impression.
