Week 13 JP Poll: Top 20 power rankings undergo major shakeup after thrilling college football slate
As the college football regular season winds down, there hasn’t been a shortage of intrigue. That was again the case in Week 12, and it led to a major shakeup in the JP Poll as Josh Pate unveiled the latest Top 20.
The newest power ratings – remember, they aren’t rankings – saw plenty of movement ahead of Week 13. Some notable results came in the SEC as Alabama suffered its second loss of the year and Texas lost its third game in two games that had plenty of implications.
With rivalry week approaching, the games are getting even more important across college football. Here is the Week 13 JP Poll, as unveiled on Josh Pate’s College Football Show.
1. Ohio State (-)
After another huge victory in Week 12, Ohio State maintained its spot atop the JP Poll. The Buckeyes are also the top team in the College Football Playoff rankings as they continue their dominant run through the 2025 season.
Ohio State’s rushing attack was firing on all cylinders in the 48-10 victory over UCLA, totaling four touchdowns on the ground – including two from James Peoples. The Buckeyes now get ready for a matchup against Rutgers before the rivalry game against Michigan closes out the year.
2. Georgia (+3)

There was movement in the Top 5 of the JP Poll ahead of Week 13. Georgia jumped three spots to No. 2 after a huge victory over Texas in Athens.
Gunner Stockton threw for four touchdowns and ran in one more to lead the charge for UGA, which picked up its sixth consecutive victory. It also marked the Bulldogs’ SEC finale as they head into their last two non-conference games with a 7-1 mark in conference play.
3. Indiana (-1)
Despite a win last week, Indiana is down one spot to No. 3 in the Week 13 JP Poll. The Hoosiers take a perfect 11-0 record into their final bye week as they get ready for a rivalry matchup to close out the season.
Heisman Trophy contender Fernando Mendoza dazzled once again in Week 12, leading Indiana to victory over Wisconsin on Senior Day. He threw for 299 yards and four touchdowns as IU got the 31-7 win.
4. Texas A&M (-1)
It looked like Texas A&M was going to suffer a surprise blowout in Week 12 as the Aggies trailed South Carolina at halftime. But the Aggies completely flipped the script in the second half en route to a historic comeback victory over the Gamecocks.
Following that game, though, Texas A&M dropped one spot to No. 4 in the JP Poll. The Aggies will have a non-conference break coming up against Samford this week before a high-profile season finale against Texas on Black Friday.
5. Alabama (-1)

A home loss to Oklahoma dealt a blow to Alabama’s spot in the College Football Playoff rankings. In the JP Poll, though, the Crimson Tide are a Top-5 team.
Alabama sits at No. 5 in the latest power ratings, dropping one spot following that loss to OU in Week 12. The Crimson Tide now sit at 8-2 entering the final stretch, starting with this week’s matchup against Eastern Illinois.
6. Notre Dame (+1)
Up one spot following last week’s resounding victory over Pitt, Notre Dame is now at No. 6 in the JP Poll. The Fighting Irish have now won eight straight victories since back-to-back losses to start the year, putting them on course for the College Football Playoff.
Notre Dame didn’t leave any room for doubt in last week’s victory over Pitt at Acrisure Stadium. Malachi Fields had two receiving touchdowns and Jeremiyah Love had an impressive run for a score to help lead the charge.

7. Oregon (+1)
Also jumping a spot to No. 7 in the JP Poll, Oregon had another strong showing in Week 12. The Ducks took down Minnesota in a Friday night primetime game at Autzen Stadium to improve to 9-1 on the year.
A big matchup awaits in Week 13, though. Oregon will welcome USC for a game which has not only Big Ten implications, but could shake up the national picture, as well.
8. Ole Miss (-2)

Despite a victory over Florida last time out, Ole Miss is down two spots in the JP Poll. The Rebels are now at No. 8 heading into their bye.
After the off week, Ole Miss will play its rivalry game against Mississippi State on Black Friday. In the meantime, though, all eyes are on Lane Kiffin’s future as rumors continue to swirl.
9. Utah (+1)
Fresh off its third straight victory, Utah jumped up a spot in the JP Poll. The Utes are now at No. 9 as they get ready for this week’s matchup against Kansas State.
Utah sit at 8-2 overall and 5-2 in conference play, looking to stay in the mix in the Big 12 race. The Utes will need some help, though, with Texas Tech and BYU both in front of them with one loss apiece.
10. Texas Tech (+2)
Since a loss to Arizona State, Texas Tech has been firing on all cylinders en route to a four-game win streak. Just like that, the Red Raiders are not only at No. 5 in the College Football Playoff rankings, but also at No. 10 in the JP Poll ahead of Week 13.
Texas Tech is idle this week following a resounding win over UCF. Joey McGuire’s group will now prepare for its season finale next week, which includes a trip to Morgantown to take on West Virginia.
