Gophers flip North Dakota commit Tavian White
The Minnesota Golden Gophers have landed their third commitment of the weekend, this time from Waukee (IA) ATH Tavian White.
The former North Dakota commitment flipped to the Gophers following an unofficial visit to campus for a gameday visit, taking in Minnesota’s 17-7 win over rival Wisconsin on Saturday afternoon.
Gopher Nation originally reported White’s visit to campus on Thursday and included him in our Black Friday War Room.
A strong athlete, White was a junior Olympic qualifier and has also recorded a reported 4.4 40-yard dash. He played primarily on defense for his senior season at Waukee, playing free safety, strong safety, and cornerback. In seven games played, he recorded 30 tackles, five pass breakups, and two blocked field goals.
Minnesota entered Saturday with the No. 27 recruiting class nationally, up 24 spots from last year’s rank of No. 51. They also own the No. 8 class in the Big Ten. White is overall commitment No. 31 for the Golden Gophers.
