Auburn offers 2024 slot WR Dylan Gentry from Central-Phenix City
Auburn football on Tuesday extended a preferred walk-on offer to Class of 2024 slot wide receiver Dylan Gentry.
Gentry, who attends Central High School in Phenix City, Ala., announced the offer on social media. He is close friends with five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman, who also attends Central.
Gentry visited Auburn for the Ole Miss, New Mexico State and Alabama games. He also made several mid-week visits to the Plains over the past several weeks, including one on Nov. 13.
“I came up here to see the campus again and talk to the coaches,” Gentry told Auburn Live after the visit. “I talked to Coach (Marcus) Davis and Coach (Hugh) Freeze. They were talking to me and telling me to keep having a good year, keep balling and keep working on my craft.”
Gentry has developed relationships with both coaches. He’s also developed a familiarity with Auburn.
“I love it at Auburn,” he said. “It’s a great campus and a great atmosphere to play in. It’s every kid’s dream to play in an atmosphere like that.”
Gentry has helped lead Central to a 12-0 record and the 7A state championship game. He has 27 receptions for 504 yards and seven touchdowns.
Gentry is on pace to graduate in December and enroll in college in January.
