Auburn Recruiting: Top must-have recruits in 2025 class

Auburn’s 2025 recruiting class is off to a fast start. The Tigers enter March with nine commitments, a group currently ranked No. 7 in the country and No. 3 in the SEC.

And more additions could be on the way.

Who are the top targets at each position, the main guys Auburn fans should follow in the coming weeks and months? This series will answer those questions.

Today, we look at the top targets at quarterback.

Top Targets: Quarterbacks

Auburn is in the market to add one high school quarterback to its 2025 class and has zeroed in on a handful of guys.

Coach Hugh Freeze, offensive coordinator Derrick Nix and quarterbacks coach Kent Austin aren’t limiting their search to the Southeast. The coaches have gone national in their hunt for a quarterback.

Here are the five quarterbacks Auburn fans should keep a close eye on moving forward.

Julian Lewis, Carrollton, Ga.

Lewis is the top quarterback target for several schools, including Auburn. He’s a five-star for a reason. The On3 Industry Ranking lists him at the No. 9 overall recruit in the country and No. 3 quarterback. He’s committed to USC, but continues to look at and listen to other schools, including Auburn. The Tigers have made a big push for Lewis and have gotten him on campus at least three times in the past year. His last visit came in January, and he’s already set on coming back on March 16.

Husan Longstreet, Corona, Calif. (Centennial)

Auburn offered Longstreet in November and has steadily crept up his list. He plans to make the cross-country trip to the Plains on March 23. The visit will be big. Not only will it be the first visit to Auburn for him, but according to On3’s Chad Simmons, the Tigers are battling Texas A&M for the top spot on his list.

K.J. Lacey, Saraland, Ala.

Lacey is the top in-state quarterback target and has been to Auburn several times. His most recent visit came in December and he plans to be back in March. He’s committed to Texas and has been since June, but Auburn continues to heavily pursue.

Cutter Woods, Anderson, S.C. (Westside)

Auburn offered Woods earlier in February and is working to get him on campus for a visit in March. He’s already familiar with Freeze and Austin and the two coaches are familiar with him. Freeze and Austin offered Woods while at Liberty after seeing him in camp before his sophomore season.

TJ Lateef, Orange, Calif. (Lutheran)

Auburn has targeted another California quarterback in Lateef, and the interest is mutual. Lateef recently included Auburn in his top group of schools and a visit is expected to happen in March.
