Quoteworthy: “That was really exciting for me because my uncle (Roderick Hood) played there, my dad (Bengie Hood) played there, my cousin (D’Antoine Hood) played there, my brother (Ben Hood) played there, so it was kind of surreal. Auburn has always been my dream school because of the legacy up there. It’s been my dream school, so it was big for me.”

The Hood File

Hood, the No. 32 cornerback in the country for On3, was one of Auburn’s top flip targets for the last several weeks before signing day. He had been a Michigan State verbal since September but parted ways with the Spartans while Hood was on his official visit to Auburn.

Auburn Live has not been in person to scout Hood, but has visited him multiple times. Hood is unassuming without pads on; He is not built to carry too much weight as his frame is smaller. Still, Hood has some length to go along with his 6-foot frame.

Hood plays multiple positions, including quarterback on the offensive side. He plays every snap on offense and defense for Eagles Landing Christian. He also returns kicks and punts on top of that.

Hood has some gamesmanship. He is not the most impressive player getting off of the bus, but makes game-altering plays routinely on the field.

SEC readiness

Breakdown from Auburn Live’s Cole Pinkston:

Hood, being a smaller player weighing around 170 pounds, will need time to develop in the weight room. His case is interesting, however, due to his football knowledge going in. That will give him a step up early on.

There’s a good chance Hood breaks in as a special teams player before moving up to playing significantly at corner. Significant playing time at corner in year one probably won’t happen, but he should be able to work into the rotation by year two in our best guess.
