The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM) was released earlier in the year by On3. For those who follow recruiting, this product uses an algorithm to learn from past recruiting results. It also relies heavily on the visits each prospect takes and the On3 recruiting experts and fan site insiders. The accuracy will improve as time goes on. For now, it is a great way to see the latest trend for each individual recruit.

Today we’re discussing a recent bump in percentage for one of Auburn’s top WR targets. Khai Prean, a 4-star ATH from Belle Rose, La., has visited Auburn once in 2022. He has visited the home town team, LSU, twice. Auburn, though, is the team with the momentum. Let’s discuss why.

Auburn currently has 97.4% chance of landing Prean according to RPM

In the last week, Auburn’s percentage of landing Prean has shot up to a strong 97.4% chance according to the RPM. That is partly due to there now being two expert predictions in for Prean to Auburn. Even before the new prediction, the Tigers were sitting in a good spot with the Louisiana 4-star.

The latest intel suggests that the Auburn-Louisiana connection is something that is important to Prean. Should he attend Auburn, he and his family would have some familiarity.

Auburn’s Director of Football and Player Relations, Trovon Reed, is key in Prean’s recruitment. Not only did he play for Auburn while being from the state of Louisiana, he also played WR at Auburn. There is plenty of relatability and appeal for Prean to Auburn through Reed.

The Tigers have recently added players from the state as well. Donovan Kaufman, TJ Finley, Austin Ausberry, Camden Brown, and Enyce Sledge are all additions under the new staff from Louisiana. JD Rhym, a freshman corner, was flipped from LSU last season as well.

Playing style and atmosphere a factor as well

The connections are a major factor, but the plan for Prean appears to be pivotal as well. He is considered an athlete as he fits in many positions. Auburn has a clear plan for him. Prean appreciates that.

“They talk about me playing a little bit of both. They want me to play receiver mainly because that’s my primary position–but I also told them if you need me to get in the box and tote the rock I have no problem with that.”

In talking with Prean, the game day atmosphere at Auburn always stands out.

“I think it’s a nice trip every time I come out to Auburn. They never disappoint me and I always feel the energy and it’s a beautiful sight to see.”

He has even decided to take his official visit to Auburn during a game weekend rather than in the summer. He is scheduled to be on campus for Auburn’s massive home matchup with Penn State.
