The Georgia Bulldogs are back on the board for the Class of 2025, and this time, they’ve added their first wideout of the cycle in four-star prospect Thomas Blackshear.

A product of Savannah, Georgia’s Calvary Day School, the 6-foot and a half, 195 pound Blackshear becomes Georgia’s ninth commitment.

The opportunity to be a Bulldog clearly meant a lot to the rising senior, which he explained to DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson upon receiving the news of an offer from Georgia.

“A couple of tears came down,” Blackshear said. “I called my mom, my dad and a couple of family members. It was very exciting. I’m just a hometown kind of guy. I like the Atlanta Falcons. I’m just a hometown guy…It felt good to see Georgia as one of the first programs to reach and especially seeing that it was Coach Kirby [Smart]. That really showed me that they really want me.”

Since that time, the Bulldogs have seen turnover at the wide receivers coach spot, with James Coley returning to helm the position after the departure of Bryan McClendon for the NFL.

“I like Georgia a lot. Their offense spreads things out more now, they are throwing the ball more and I like how they play and practice,” Blackshear told On3’s Chad Simmons. “Me and Coach [James] Coley are cool and we are getting to know each other well. He is a cool coach.”

Georgia remained a consistent threat for his services since offering, however, besting heavy pursuits from the likes of Tennessee and FSU for his services.

Thomas Blackshear — an On3 outlier

While Blackshear comes in as the nation’s No. 298 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking, the positioning is boosted significantly by his standing within the On300 rankings.

On3 is the only rankings service to award him a fourth star to the point, and he currently stands as the nation’s No. 168 overall prospect in the On300 ranking. Additionally, he is ranked as the No. 7 overall athlete in the class per the On300. ESPN is the next closest, and while he is unranked nationally, he comes in as the No. 60 athlete in their rankings.
