Commitment Day Primer: 4-star QB Ryan Montgomery set to decide
Findlay (Ohio) four-star quarterback Ryan Montgomery is the next signal-caller domino to fall. Montgomery will announce his commitment on Wednesday.
He will choose between Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Montgomery is the No. 186 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Rankings.
Georgia has gotten Montgomery on campus five times throughout his recruitment. He recently took a visit to Florida back on April 6.
Georgia has also been heavily involved with two other quarterback prospects. Five-star USC quarterback commit Julian Lewis has been a heavy flip target for Georgia.
Four-star Matt Zollers chose Missouri over Georgia two weeks ago. Montgomery has seen things pick up as of late with Georgia.
The Bulldogs have also surged in his recruitment. On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine now favors Georgia. The Bulldogs have a 73.9 percent chance of landing the four-star signal caller according to RPM.

What has he said about Georgia?
Montgomery has been high on the Bulldogs’ culture and plan for development. He was on campus back in January.
The Bulldogs checked a lot of boxes during that visit.
“This (recent) visit was super important just to get all my questions answered and see where we are,” Montgomery said on January 30. “There’s definitely a lot of mutual interest. I’m in a pretty good spot with Georgia right now.”
Georgia could be shaping up for a major quarterback battle in 2025. Incumbent starter Carson Beck is in his final season in Athens.
Montgomery has also considered the looming quarterback battle at Georgia.
“No matter where I go, my mentality is to go compete for the starting job and get the starting job,” Montgomery said. “That’s going to be super hard to do as a true freshman at a place like Georgia. That is going to be my mentality. I know that if Georgia ends up being the place, if I don’t start year one or two, I’d be perfectly fine knowing that I’m going to get developed and get those practice reps and when my number is called and the time is right, I’m going to go out there and perform well.”
The Big Picture for Georgia
Georgia lost the commitment of five-star Dylan Raiola who signed with Nebraska right before the class of 2024 signed.
Georgia carried three quarterbacks through spring practice. Beck will be gone this time next year. Landing Montgomery or any quarterback in the class of 2025 is a must.
There will likely be a major battle for the quarterback job in 2025. Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi are the only two scholarship quarterbacks expected on campus in 2025.
Any quarterback Georgia lands in 2025 will have their name thrown into that battle and also would be set up to be the heir down the road.
