Hawkeyes land TE Eli Johnson

Class of 2025 tight end Eli Johnson has made his college decision. The 6-foot-6, 230-pound River Falls, Wisconsin native announced today that he will be attending the University of Iowa to play for the Hawkeyes.
A three-star prospect with an On3 Industry Ranking of 85.44, Johnson chose Iowa over scholarship offers from Minnesota, Iowa State, Purdue, Kansas, Missouri, Michigan State, West Virginia, Vanderbilt, Akron, and North Dakota State.

Johnson, who visited Iowa City for a game last October, is commitment No. 6 for the Hawkeyes as he joins Thomas Meyer, Carson Cooney, Joey VanWetzinga, Jimmy Sullivan, and Burke Gautcher in Iowa’s recruiting class of 2025.
As a junior, Johnson finished the season with 17 catches for 214 yards and six touchdowns for River Falls High School last fall. Currently in basketball, he is averaging 8.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game this winter.
