Kansas State has earned their third commitment of the 2023 class in the form of East St. Louis three-star forward Macaleab Rich. He joins four-star guards Dai Dai Ames and RJ Jones after announcing his decision at his home gym.

Coaches Jerome Tang and Jareem Dowling offered Rich in the Summer after watching him on the AAU circuit. His size and athleticism caught the eye of several programs and the Wildcats were one of those schools that took great interest.

Missouri and Ole Miss recruited him just as hard as K-State, but the Wildcats’ energy and exceptional hospitality outweighed any other option in front of the three-star forward, despite the Tigers initially being his dream school.

All three programs hosted him for official visits within the last month. It was the trip to Manhattan that featured the Kansas State head coach leading pregame chants and K-State football defeating Missouri handily inside Bill Snyder Family Stadium that tipped the scale for the high school senior.

Rich has planned on announcing today, his birthday, for over a month. Dowling maintaining constant communication with the East St. Louis wing was pivotal in the process, as was meeting and commiserating with Dai Dai Ames during his stay at at Kansas State.

He is the first member of the frontcourt for the cycle and will join David N’Guessan, Taj Manning, Ish Massoud and Nae’Qwan Tomlin at the ‘3’ and ‘4’ for the 2023-2024 season.

Jerome Tang and company never stop recruiting and are not finished in the Class of 2023. They have their eyes on another guard and hope to land a post as well. Two official visitors will be in town this weekend, including K-State target Cameron Carr.

His father once coached women’s basketball in Manhattan and the younger Carr played for current Kansas State assistant Rodney Perry at MoKan Elite. Stay tuned to KSO for more on that and an in-depth analysis on the addition of Macaleab Rich.
