Kansas State basketball recruiting continues to pick up steam.

After defeating Texas Tech, Alabama and Kentucky for Creighton transfer Arthur Kaluma, contending with Duke and UConn for Patrick Ngongba, out-classing Kansas for David Castillo and landing Conference USA Player of the Year Tylor Perry over SEC schools, K-State is hosting Derrion Reid.

He is currently on an official visit to Manhattan.

What is the significance of that? Thanks to a significant rise up the rankings after four sessions of AAU games on the EYBL circuit, Reid is the No. 24 player in the country in the Class of 2024 according to the On3 rankings.

His On3 Industry Ranking (a combination of the On3, 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN rankings) has the Kansas State target as the No. 32 player in the country for that particular recruiting cycle. Every network lists him as a four-star prospect.

Reid also holds offers from South Carolina, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Mississippi State, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Cincinnati, Xavier, Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Florida State, Creighton and Kansas, in addition to K-State.

The Peach State native has already made one official visit to Mississippi State as well and plans to see Georgia in the next two weeks. Other schools contending with Kansas State include Alabama, Ohio State, the Jayhawks, Florida State and LSU.

Jerome Tang and the Wildcats already have one 2024 commit in Castillo.
