One of the bigger events of the Kansas State offseason will transpire over the next 48 hours when North Texas guard transfer Tylor Perry arrives in Manhattan for an official visit. Jerome Tang and K-State are hoping to secure the services of the Conference USA Player of the Year.

Not only was he named the league’s best player but Perry has also been a first team All-Conference USA pick each of the last two seasons and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the NIT Tournament this year after the Mean Green defeated UAB in the title game.

A native of Oklahoma, Perry has one year of eligibility remaining and will use it at the high-major level after an outstanding career in Denton. While at North Texas, he briefly played under current Kansas State assistant Jareem Dowling. That is his first and initial connection to the Wildcats.

Additionally, his head coach was Grant McCasland, who is now the new head coach at Texas Tech. Both McCasland and Tang worked for Scott Drew at Baylor and were assistants together for an extended period of time in Waco.

Though he is about to see K-State for the first time, Perry has already taken four other official visits, and they were to Alabama, Arkansas, Florida and Ole Miss. So if not Kansas State, he seems destined for a year in the SEC.

However, that is not the belief of KSO and On3. Both myself and Jamie Shaw have logged predictions for K-State to win out for Perry. He has already set a decision date for May 2, and Kansas State appears to be in prime position to be the pick.
