Kentucky is reportedly showing interest in FCS TE Bauer Sharp

Kentucky received some surprise news on Thursday when class of 2021 signee Jordan Dingle entered the transfer portal. The Bowling Green (Ky.) High product with two years of eligibility remaining will finish out his collegiate career somewhere else. That leaves the Wildcats with only four scholarship tight ends on the roster for the 2023 season.
That might not be enough for Liam Coen‘s pro-style offense. On Friday, a new transfer target emerged at tight end. Chris Hummer of 247 Sports is reporting that the Wildcats have shown interest in Southeastern Louisiana tight end Bauer Sharp.

An unranked quarterback recruit coming out of Dothan (Ala.) High in the class of 2021, Bauer Sharp took a redshirt his first season at Southeastern Louisiana before making the transition to tight end in the FCS. As a redshirt sophomore in 2023, Sharp recorded 29 receptions for 288 yards and 3 touchdowns and was also used in the run game (133 yards and five touchdowns). The all-conference selection entered the transfer portal after the season and is receiving legitimate Power Five interest.
Kentucky, Tennessee, and Utah are all attempting to get the tight end transfer on campus. Some other power conference programs are lurking in this recruitment.
Kentucky might not be done roster-building at tight end in the 2024 recruiting cycle.
