Calipari doesn't know what's wrong with Cauley-Stein

Willie Cauley-Stein was a non-factor tonight against Texas A&M, his third consecutive game without contributing. The Cats’ starting center played only nine minutes in the game with one point, one rebound and four fouls. The funk continued off the court, too; his body language on the bench reminded me of the uninterested Terrence Jones during his sophomore slump in 2011-12. Not a good look, but at least it ended well for T. Jones.
After the game, Calipari admitted he doesn’t know what’s wrong with Willie.
“He backed up and it’s a slippery slope,” he said. “But he’ll be fine.”
Luckily, Dakari Johnson played well off the bench in relief. He made the most of his opportunity, yet again, with six points, seven rebounds, three blocks and a steal.
“How about Dakari?” Cal asked in his press conference. “He’s doing good stuff.”
Maybe it’s time to consider tweaking that starting lineup for a game or two. Cal said he will start whoever is better, and that has been Dakari Johnson in Kentucky’s last three games.
