LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier shares his expectations for spring ball growth

2025 Houston (Tex.) North Shore linebacker Charles Ross announced his commitment to LSU Saturday night on Twitter. The On300 prospect and big riser held offers from Baylor, Cal, Houston and others.

“I loved it,” Ross told On3 on his decision. “I loved that the coaching staff was very personable and made me feel at home. Coach Baker told me that a player with my skill set and athleticism has the ability to play any of the three linebacker positions in his defense.

“I’m closing my recruiting as today. I JUST got off the phone with Coach Kelly. I’m committed. LSU is HOME now.”

LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker prioritized him quickly after offering this year.

“Coach Baker has been an inspiration. We communicate on a regular basis,” Ross said. “Our relationship has grown from him being a recruiter to him becoming a mentor to me.”

As a junior for North Shore High School, Ross totaled 71 tackles to go along with six sacks, two pass breakups, two interceptions and also a pick-six. Earlier this month, the four-star linebacker clocked a personal-best 10.63 in the 100-meter dash.

Ross is the No. 263 and the No. 27 linebacker in the country. He is the No. 40-rated player from the talented state of Texas in the 2025 recruiting class, according to On3.

With Ross on board, LSU only strengthens its No. 1 recruiting class in 2025 and gets the first of what could be multiple commits from a big recruiting weekend.
