2023 Miami (Fla.) Gulliver Prep wide receiver Jalen Brown signed with LSU during the early signing period and shined during All-American Bowl practices. He was rewarded by a move up in the final On300 rankings released on Tuesday.

Brown now ranks as the No. 126 overall prospect in the country and No. 20 wide receiver in the nation. His impressive All-American Bowl week helped overcome a bit of a down senior season with quarterback inconsistency and missing a few opportunities to shine.

The Tigers beat out a double-digit offer list for Brown, who is ranked by the On3 Consensus as the No. 13 wide receiver in the country and No. 79 overall prospect in the 2023 class.

As a senior at Gulliver Prep, Brown played in six games and logged 22 catches, 401 yards and three touchdowns. Brown was injured for two games as a senior and had two other games cancelled. For his career, he caught 111 passes for 2,396 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Brian Kelly loves what Jalen Brown is bringing to the Tigers and enrolled early to get a jump on the offense.

“Big play guy, he can certainly take the top off of any coverage,” Kelly said after the early signing period. “Probably more of an X placed to the field. He has elite speed, so we see him as a guy that can do some things that are fairly unique in the sense that he really can turn the field over for us. He’s got to develop, continue to get stronger and he’s working at it.

“He knows he’s got to get stronger in the weight room, but he’s a guy that brings a speed element, boy we’ve got guys with really good speed, but he brings an elite speed that’s going to be fun.”

Jalen Brown scouting report

“Big play wide receiver who is one of the top deep threats in the 2023 cycle. Shows the ability to consistently separate and win on vertical routes. Transfers his sub 10.7 second speed in the 100 meters over to the football field. A smooth, fluid mover who shows signs of changing speeds mid-route. Also shows the ability to track and locate the ball over his shoulder.

“Makes some grabs with his arms extended. Productive as a junior with over 1,000 yards, 11 touchdowns while averaging over 18 yards per catch. Needs to continue adding to his route tree as he mainly wins on vertical routes to this point.

“Jalen Brown reminds us of Will Fuller due to his similar size, build and skill set at the same stage. Like Fuller, Brown is a thinner receiver with the ability to take the top off defenses with his top end speed. Both have similar movement patterns and ability after the catch as well. Brown has more verified track times than Fuller as a high school prospect.”
