IMG Academy safety Keon Sabb announced his commitment to Michigan on Wednesday in a live ceremony at IMG Academy.

Sabb, who ranks as the No. 102 prospect in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average, currently committed to Michigan over Georgia, Ohio State and LSU.

A former Clemson commit, Sabb decommitted from Clemson following defensive coordinator Brent Venables’ departure to Oklahoma. Even before his decommitment, Michigan was working on Sabb behind the scenes. Sabb even visited Michigan for the Wolverines’ win over Ohio State while still committed to Clemson, despite a no-visit policy for Clemson recruits.

Sabb first made an official visit to Michigan over the summer, but Michigan did not make his top schools list. Still, safeties coach Ron Bellamy kept pushing. Even after Sabb committed to Clemson, Bellamy kept pushing and ultimately helped the Wolverines win the talented safety over.

Sabb is originally from New Jersey, starring at Glassboro High and Williamstown High early in his high school career, before moving down to Florida powerhouse IMG Academy for his senior season.

Earlier this fall, On3 Director of Recruiting Chad Simmons watched Sabb play in person. Simmons wrote the following on Sabb’s performance:

“Sabb is a big safety that can run, cover and hit. Some think he would end up in the box at Clemson as a linebacker, but whatever Brent Venables and the Tigers decide to label him at, Sabb is an athlete. He moved around a good bit on the back-end of the defense Friday night.”

Here’s EJ Holland’s thoughts on Sabb:

“Sabb is a big safety that could eventually play a hybrid linebacker role. Either way, Sabb is a freak athlete and one of the best lands for Michigan this cycle. Sabb can play deep safety and uses his length and size to be an enforcer on the back end. He is very comfortable in the box and loves to hit. I first saw Sabb live in 7v7 as a sophomore and immediately fell in love with his ability. Michigan essentially flipped him from Clemson, making this one arguably the most impressive of them all.”

Sabb joins Will Johnson, Zeke Berry, Kody Jones, Myles Pollard and Damani Dent as defensive back commits in the 2022 class. Sabb becomes the second-highest rated player in Michigan’s class following his commitment.
