Dominic Nichols is ready to make his decision.

The four-star Ijamsville (Md.) Oakdale EDGE will announce his commitment today at 1:00 p.m. ET live on his social media channels.

Nichols, who is ranked as the No. 25 EDGE and No. 380 overall recruit nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking, has a Top 8 of Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin.

Here is a closer look at where things stand.

Why It Will Be Michigan

All signs point to Michigan in this recruitment. In fact, Michigan has a 95.6 percent chance of landing Nichols going into his decision, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. I’ve had my prediction in since April and still feel extremely confident in that pick. It was around that time that Michigan really took command of Nichols’ recruitment. Nichols actually spent three days in Ann Arbor right before I logged the prediction and returned with his mother for an official visit this month. It appears staffer Dylan Roney, defensive coordinator Jesse Minter, defensive line coach Mike Elston and the rest of the staff have done enough to win this recruitment.

Why It Won’t Be Michigan

Nichols had a few twists in his recruitment this month. Wisconsin hosted him for an official visit to kick off June and received some predictions elsewhere following his trip to Madison. The Badgers have made him a top overall priority and are pushing hard to beat out Michigan. Clemson was back in contact with Nichols as recently as a few days ago. The Tigers spoke to Nichols about making a visit there, and it appeared that it was close to happening. Clemson just landed friend and Top 100 EDGE Darien Mayo. The Tigers really like what Nichols brings to the table as well.

EJs Prediction

As mentioned, I’ve had my pick in for Michigan since April. I got a lot of positive vibes following his spring unofficial visit and had a great sit-down interview with Nichols that same month. While Wisconsin did impress and Clemson did intrigue him, Michigan has always been the best fit for Nichols on and off the field. The Wolverines see him as a bigger EDGE in the same mold as Mike Morris, and Nichols has the frame to add some really good weight. He’s also at his best when he can pin his ears back and get after the quarterback. There is no question Nichols would be developed at Michigan, and that’s a big factor for him.
