Michigan has scored another commitment on the recruiting trail.

Less than a week after reeling in three-star Princeton (N.J.) Hun School defensive lineman Owen Wafle and three-star Charlotte (N.C.) West Charlotte linebacker Jaden Smith, the Wolverines picked up a verbal pledge from four-star Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood wide receiver I’Marion Stewart.

Stewart committed to Michigan over fellow finalists Oregon, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

“I’ve been there like three or four times, and the experiences have been really good, especially the game days,” Stewart said. Coach (Ron) Bellamy is my guy. He tries to find as much time as he can to text me. He has a really good relationship with me.”

Stewart’s decision comes almost immediately following his weekend official visit to Michigan.

The talented pass catcher met with Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, offensive coordinator and area recruiter Sherrone Moore and wide receiver coach Ron Bellamy and got an in-depth look at the program.

“It went well,” Stewart said. “I’ve been down there a few times, so I’ve basically seen everything. This time, I spent more time with the players. I also spent more time with Coach Bellamy, Coach Moore and Coach Harbaugh. Usually when I’m there, I’m around the stadium. This time, I got a whole campus tour. I definitely love the campus.”

Bellamy made Stewart a top priority throughout the process and once again made an impression on him during the visit.

“We talked about everything,” Stewart said. “It was more what I can do and what I’ll be able to do. How I can play a good role in the offense if I do go there. He compared me to Roman (Wilson). I like the way they used him and got him the ball in different variations — short game, deep and getting him the ball quick and letting him work. Roman will be gone, so if I come, I’ll be able to compete for that spot right away.”

At 6-foot, 177 pounds, Stewart is ranked as the No. 54 wide receiver and No. 313 overall prospect nationally, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Michigan now has 20 commits in its 2024 recruiting class — Top 100 Rochester (Mich.) Adams tight end Brady Prieskorn, Top 100 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis, Top 100 Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller running back Jordan Marshall, On300 Harper Woods (Mich.) High defensive back Jacob Oden, On300 Nashville (Tenn.)
