Michigan has made the top five for class of 2023 guard George Washington III — is he a take? Plus, head coach Juwan Howard and his staff have offered another senior prospect.

First, on Baye Ndongo

The Wolverines are waiting on Papa Kante and Zayden High, but they’re also extending other offers. Ndongo (6-8, 220), of Denver Colorado Prep, has been earning offers after arriving from Senegal in Africa. He’s visited Colorado twice and holds offers from Providence, Arizona State, San Diego, Washington State, and others.

Though raw, he’s one to watch. He’s extremely athletic and instinctive defensively, a shot blocker with great upside.

Watch for Michigan to try to get him on campus in the weeks to come.

Washington III, a former Ohio State pledge, is No. 135 in the On3 150 as of now, but his stock has fallen from a high of top 30 last year.

“Playing for coach Juwan Howard would be big time. That’s another pro coaching staff,” he said. “They get it done. Play style wise, I feel like it fits me, too.”

Washington III’s dad is a women’s basketball assistant at Dayton, and that’s one of his final five. That would be one to watch closely. He’d need to visit before picking up an offer, and nothing is set yet.

Virginia, Wake Forest, and Louisville round out his list.

“Coach (Anthony) Grant is a great guy and a great coach. He’s proven himself,” Washington III said of Dayton. “You can call them a mid-major but I feel like they’re one of the most talented teams in the country. They have a really great program. I feel what they can do is special.”

From On3: “Washington averaged 9.0 points and 0.8 rebounds through six Peach Jam games while shooting 34 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from three. He dished out one assist for every two turnovers.”

Washington was the No. 105 rated prospect nationally according to On3, but slid down 30 spots to remain in the top 150. The 6-2, 165-pound shooting guard had been committed to Ohio State since November 3, 2021.

Michigan continues to offer class of 2024 prospects and has been hosting them for visits, as well. Watch for more on that in an article to come.
