Michigan has scored another big win on the recruiting trail.

Four-star Ijamsville (Md.) Oakdale EDGE Dominic Nichols gave the Wolverines a verbal pledge just a few weeks after his official visit.

“It’s about development, really,” Nichols said. “I can go there, play outside and get developed how I need to be developed. Their EDGE production is insane”

Nichols committed to Michigan over offers from Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Penn State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Wisconsin and others.

Michigan staffer Dylan Roney, who works closely with U-M’s pass rushers, led the way in Nichols’ recruitment and helped seal the deal on his official visit.

“He made it known that I was a priority to them,” Nichols said. “He said that I’m a true edge rusher in comparison to Aidan Hutchinson and Mike Morris. I do feel really comfortable playing that EDGE position because it’s what I’m used to.”

Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh also made a strong impression on the OV.

“It was a good meeting,” Nichols said. “The last time, my mom didn’t come, so he got to meet her and all that. It definitely went well. Obviously, he’s a great coach. I feel like I could play well under him. We really talked about how many picks he’s had over the last few years, especially EDGE players.

“It’s crazy he’s coached in the Super Bowl and had a whole bunch of players at my position drafted during the time he’s been at Michigan.”

At 6-foot-5, 240 pounds, Nichols is ranked as the No. 25 EDGE and No. 380 overall prospect in the country. He is also ranked as the No. 11 overall prospect in the state of Maryland, per the On3 Industry Ranking.

Michigan now has 23 commits in its 2024 recruiting class. The group features Top 100 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis, Top 100 Rochester (Mich.) Adams tight end Brady Prieskorn, Top 100 Cincinnati (Ohio) Archbishop Moeller running back Jordan Marshall, On300 Austin (Tex.) Vandegrift offensive tackle Blake Frazier, On300 Kansas City (Mo.)
