Michigan landed its third offensive lineman commit in the 2024 class on Friday from On300 Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst tackle Andrew Sprague.

Sprague is ranked as the No. 135 overall prospect in the country, No. 9 offensive tackle nationally, and No. 4 junior in the state of Missouri, according to the On3 Industry Rankings

The Wolverines also stayed put at No. 5 overall in the 2024 On3 Industry National Team Recruiting Rankings as they’re now tied with Georgia for second in college football for the most junior commitments with 11, trailing only LSU.

Below are some of the noteworthy reactions to Sprague’s commitment on social media, who includes three fellow 2024 pledges, a signee from the 2023 class who’s also a Kansas City native, plus a couple of Michigan staff members.

Sprague made his return visit this past Saturday for Michigan’s annual spring game event. He was one-of-four uncommitted 2024 targets at the time who were each taking in the festivities inside The Big House. The six verbal Michigan commits in 2024 were keen on spending as much time with Sprague as possible before, during and after the game. From watching the group from afar, it was evident that the relationship Sprague has with his future teammates is tight-knit, which in turn, might have helped solidified his decision.

Michigan offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Sherrone Moore earns his second tackle addition to the group alongside Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward offensive tackle Ben Roebuck. Part of Sprague’s reasoning to pick Michigan was because of the opportunity to help contribute to more Joe Moore Award winning seasons. At 6-foot-8 and 270 pounds, Sprague called Moore and head coach Jim Harbaugh the “best coaches in the country.”

The social media team who run official Michigan Football account on Twitter has really stepped up their game in terms of publishing engaging tweets following a verbal commitment. Due to how high of a following football recruiting has received this offseason for the Wolverines, capturing that reach on the platform only heightens the excitement.

2023 athlete signee Kendrick Bell, the younger brother of former Michigan wide receiver Ronnie Bell, was one-of-two Missouri natives who committed to the Wolverines last year. Bell is longtime friends with Sprague as they both hail from Kansas City. Last season for the Penn State game, the pair traveled to Ann Arbor together for respective visits that weekend. Michigan is eyeing more Missouri prospects in 2024 with five-star defensive lineman Williams Nwaneri leading the pack.

Roebuck was the first offensive tackle to commit to Michigan back in late-March as he and Sprague join Avon (Ohio) High interior offensive lineman Luke Hamilton as the trio who make up the 2024 haul for Sherrone Moore so far. There are several more linemen who are in play for Michigan, including On300 Frisco (Tex.) Reedy interior Max Anderson and On300 Austin (Tex.) Vandegrift tackle Blake Frazier.

Cincinnati (Ohio) St. Xavier defensive lineman Ted Hammond has made multiple trips back to Michigan since his commitment was announced in January. Hammond was instrumental in assisting the coaching staff with recruiting Top 100 running back Jordan Marshall to the fold. Hs number of campus trips have also allowed him to make formal in person pitches, like on Saturday for the spring game to Sprague.

On300 Harper Woods (Mich.) High defensive back commit Jacob Oden was also at The Big House for the spring game as he continues to make headway on prospects in-state and out-of-region.

Michigan director of recruiting operations Albert Karschnia’s social media presence is arguably the best out of anyone on the Michigan coaching, recruiting or personnel staff, showcasing the importance of staying active on Twitter.
