Michigan Football Weekly Recruiting Q A With Ej Holland - April 10 I Goblue

The Wolverine’s EJ Holland shared his thoughts on several top Michigan recruits on the Wednesday edition of The Wolverine Live, including Top 100 Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic wide receiver Quincy Porter.

Watch the full Q&A above.

Porter Recruitment

Michigan is looking for a big-bodied wide receiver this cycle and is making Porter a top priority. Both U-M wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy and area recruiter Grant Newsome have been in constant communication and have the Wolverines in the mix here.

Porter made his first-ever visit to Michigan over the summer when he attended the annual BBQ at The Big House in late July. Porter got an in-depth look at the program and facilities and also had a chance to work out with Bellamy.

Porter returned to Michigan for his second unofficial visit last weekend and enjoyed his time on campus. Here are Holland’s thoughts on his recruitment:

“Quincy is such a dynamic player and really unlike anybody on Michigan’s roster right now,” Holland said. “If he ends up signing with Michigan, I think he could come in and potentially start as a true freshman. Michigan is making him a major priority this cycle. It’s no surprise he’s ranked as the No. 55 overall recruit in the country. I have said it for about a year now. I think Michigan is right up there with Ohio State and Penn State and some southern schools like Florida State, Florida and Oklahoma. He is playing things really close to the vest.”

Along with Michigan, Porter holds early offers from Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee and others.

At 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, Porter is ranked as the No. 7 wide receiver and No. 55 overall prospect in the country, per the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also ranked as the No. 1 overall recruit in the state of New Jersey for next cycle.

Michigan currently has the lead for Porter on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 25.5 percent chance of landing him. Rutgers is in second place with a 15.1 percent chance of landing him.

Michigan currently has three commitments in its 2025 recruiting class — On300 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot quarterback Carter Smith, On300 Howell (Mich.) High defensive lineman Bobby Kanka and three-star Alcoa (Tenn.) High tight end Eli Owens. The class is ranked No. 20 nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings.
