SoonerScoop coverage wrap-up: OU trending upward heading to Red River Rivalry
OU was not looking ahead to Texas, although it was dicey there for a few moments. The Sooners regrouped, and OU took care of business in emphatic fashion with the 50-20 victory against Iowa State.
“This is a program that has standards that are incredibly high,” head coach Brent Venables said. “Showing up every day to those standards for your opportunity, how you practice, how you work, how you lead and how you represent those keepers of the room that represent the name on your jersey, our guys have done a fantastic job.
“I don’t know all the exact numbers, but what I’ve really enjoyed is the improvement the returning players have made. There’s been a lot of hard work and intentionality, having to go through the fire. And I really like the group of guys that are newcomers, both freshmen that we’ve recruited and the transfer portal players that have made a decision to blend in and have the humility to do things our way and to buy into the culture.”
