It’s the week of the OU spring football game, finally. But we’re not going to blame you if you have one eye watching the action and one eye watching the transfer portal.

The spring football portal window opened Tuesday. And though you cannot realistically expect the same chaos as the winter, Brent Venables knows he needs a couple of pieces for the 2024 team.

It’s the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop, returning to break it all down and look ahead to what could be this weekend in Norman.

The five-man crew (Josh McCuistion, Carey Murdock, Bob Przybylo, Eddie Radosevich, George Stoia) are back to track it all.

Hitting the trenches

It’s almost as if it’s not an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman, then what are we even talking about for OU? The Sooners are stacked at a lot of positions for Team 130, but you don’t pass up guys on the lines.

Whether it’s Damonic Williams or Jermayne Lole, bring them all in and figure out the details later. OU needs some bodies at defensive tackle.

The same can be said at offensive line, although the prospects there haven’t been as eye-catching in the first couple of days of the portal.

Either way, OU seems set just about everywhere else. We’ll also be watching to see if the Sooners lose any worthwhile contributors to the portal as well. Because it giveth and taketh every time.

And the spring game will give us an idea of what the current state of the defensive lines and offensive lines are for OU. How much help is necessary?

2025 stays rolling, here comes 2026

The 2025 OU class continues to pick up steam, but here comes the 2026 group. Honestly, if you’re looking at potential commitments from the weekend, 2026 might be your best bet.

OU would love for a big visitors weekend, but the weather has that up in the air. It’s expected to be cold and rainy for almost all of Saturday, putting a damper on what Venables would like to do.

Portal Moser needs a hit… and a hug

Another week, but nothing has changed for OU basketball. Head coach Porter Moser and the staff still searching for that initial commitment.

The Sooners have been active in the visit department, just haven’t been able to seal the deal. That could (and needs to) change this weekend.

Plus, a look at what’s going on in the softball and baseball worlds for OU. That and all the banter you’ve come to expect from the Unofficial 40 podcast from SoonerScoop.
