WATCH: Jonathan McGill talks SMU bye week

SMU safety Jonathan McGill met with the media on the bye week to recap the loss to BYU and look ahead to what the Mustangs must correct. Check out the video below from one of the team captains.
McGill has known SMU quarterback Preston Stone for a long time now. With Stone now the backup, McGill did what you’d expect a captain to do and helped pick up his fellow DFW area native.
“My dad had told me a long time ago when I was dealing with some adversity myself was ‘never lose sight of the goal.’” McGill said when meeting with the media. “Whatever your goal is, whatever situation, whatever the circumstances that are going on, you still have your goals and everything is still attainable to reach for yourself.
“I told him — don’t lose sight of that, continue to stay looking toward your goal. Everybody on the team still loves you, everybody on the team still cares for you, we’re here for him.”
