Jarrod Hufford. I didn’t even know he existed until yesterday afternoon.

Then Ian Boyd posted on the Inside Texas Members Only message board with a title that said “Iowa State is talkin’.” I clicked on the link, watched the video, and then said to myself, “thank you.”

Hufford, it comes to pass, is a redshirt senior offensive lineman for the Cyclones. And he’s not the smartest guy in the room.

He basically provided the Horns all the bulletin board material they might need if they weren’t already sufficiently motivated. Hufford essentially echoed his own coach’s previous comments. That Texas acts like they’re special, but really the Horns are nothing special. They’re easily beatable, just another team that will wilt “in the dark.”

He even said the Cyclones have a “present” waiting for the Longhorns in Ames on Saturday night.

If that’s not a halcyon call to every Longhorn football player, especially the ones who went to Ames two years and got their head kicked in and were on the bus when Bo Davis went apoplectic, I don’t know what is.

Think about the guys on that bus and on that team two years ago:

Jaylan Ford, Byron Murphy, T’Vondre Sweat, Christian Jones, Jake Majors, Ja’Tavion Sanders, Barryn Sorrell, David Gbenda, Jerrin Thompson, Xavier Worthy, Jett Bush, Jahdae Barron, Vernon Broughton, Alfred Collins, Keilan Robinson, and Mo Blackwell. All but Jones and Sanders played in that game; they witnessed that disaster and its aftermath.

A relatively obscure Iowa State offensive lineman called every one of those players out. The question is, what are those Texas players going to do about it?

If this Texas team and program has truly changed, there’s no better moment than the here and now for those Longhorn upperclassmen to step up and prove it.
