WATCH: Micah Baskerville returns interception 28-yards for touchdown vs Southern

The LSU Tigers are steamrolling the Southern Jaguars early on Saturday night in Baton Rouge. First, Desmond Little deflected the pass, and then linebacker Micah Baskerville intercepted the pass and took it 28-yards to paydirt. The pick six put the Tigers up 28-0 and the first quarter was far from finished.
Check it out below.
Baskerville was named to the Butkus Award Watch List ahead of the 2022 season. He finished second on the team with 83 tackles during the 2021 season. In 40 games thus far in his career, Baskerville has racked up 171 career tackles, 18 tackles for loss, and three sacks. He’s started 21 games in his LSU career so far.
LSU was up 37-0 at the end of the first quarter, the most points scored in a quarter in program history.
The Tigers are rebounding and in a big way from last week. Freshman star linebacker Harold Perkins is getting his first taste of college action on Saturday night. He was rated as the No. 1 linebacker prospect in America, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2022 cycle.

LSU is playing without one of their star defenders on Saturday, B.J. Ojulari.
Ojulari was seen in sweats ahead of the Tigers’ Week 2 matchup against Southern, according to The Athletic’s Brody Miller. He totaled six tackles in last week’s game against Florida State before suffering an injury. The Bengal Tiger’s Billy Embody first reported Ojulari would miss the game.

Ojulari is also one of the leaders for LSU this year and was chosen to wear the No. 18 jersey, which is given to players who best exemplify Tigers football. That’s another reason why his loss is big for Kelly’s group Saturday night.
