Texas SS Adrian Rodriguez will miss time due to a hand injury, according to the school. His status is currently week-to-week.
Rodriguez has totaled a .271 batting average, starting all 27 games at shortstop for the Longhorns.
Evan is writing the story and Nash will explain what's next for the Longhorns at shortstop in A-Rod's absence.

My guess is Becerra to short, Livingston to 3B.
Could've seen this coming a mile away, BTW. Really confused at Schloss' decision making with Rodriguez. He did not need to be playing every midweek game, or even every weekend OOC game, in the buildup to SEC play. A Rod is far too competitive to ever actually own up to his level of discomfort. It was clear to everyone that he was playing hurt, and it affected his play.

Was obvious this was coming. I’ve been feeing so bad for this kid. Dude’s a warrior, but has to prioritize his health.
And beyond that, if he keeps playing through this injury and it’s impacting his performance, it’s going to impact his draft positioning and earnings potential.
He needs to get healthy and come back when he can swing without so much pain.

Honestly, about time he sat to heal. He seemed to be in pain every AB.

I heard about this possibility yesterday and was chatting with @younghorn10 and @jtsween about it.
I think "a few weeks" is a tad optimistic, which is why it was never as simple as "let him sit out this midweek game or weekend to get right". It'll be a win if he can return by the end of April.
I believe they are removing the staple completely from his hand. It was supposed to help promote healing but instead is causing more issues. It's my understanding that there is still nothing structurally wrong with the hand. It is about the pain.

It's being reported elsewhere that he is having the staple removed and will be out 2-3 weeks. Becerra to SS, Borba to 3B, someone else to 1B.

His bat, in its current state, isn’t a loss whatsoever. Hopefully he comes back closer to 2025 form.

Hate it for AROD and hopefully he can heal up quickly and return for the post season run! That said, I don't think this is going to hurt the team. He's injured and it's obvious by his play. I actually think the lineup might be better getting him out and letting him heal. Obviously a healthy AROD is a different story and we're dang good when he's healthy but he's been far from good hitting wise and since he's batting cleanup we need more in that spot.

This is far from good news, But this season we have the depth to get to the other side of it. Becerra may actually be a defensive upgrade at SS and Borba has played a lot of 3B in his career here. We just need to figure out which of the game thread darlings who've been wrongfully held back will replace him at first.

More concerned about shuffling the infield than missing his bat. Hopefully like Max last year, ARod can be back and contribute down the stretch when it really matters.

I wish this could have been done a few weeks ago, but perhaps it just became a bigger problem recently. Next man up.

Good but this should've already happened. Everyone could see he wasn't right. Dude can't even swing without wincing in pain.

When was his surgery. This sure seems mismanaged from the cheap seats view

I think the frustrating part for me, and others, is that the original injury is fine. He isn't having to play through a structurally damaged hand like last year.
