Even our women’s basketball recruits get poached. The 5 star that just signed was released from her signing today. I swear this only happens to Clemson.

Wow! Things keep adding up on Neff’s watch. Just saying. Some will say it’s just coincidence, but things, at this time, are not trending in a positive direction for Clemson athletics.
Hey, we have women’s lacrosse!

Why release her if she signed scholarship papers and NIL deal?

Two thoughts: Maybe Poppie doesn’t want a player who hates to be here? Or maybe(likely) she and her parents signed when she was 17 and now she’s 18. And SP can still be in good at her school. I just wonder how far off we are on the money. Why release her if she signed scholarship papers and NIL deal?

If anyone didn’t expect this to happen once the NIL box was opened, I don’t know what to tell you. Clemson was never going to be able to compete in this environment at a high level. Our alumni base just isn’t there in quantity with the amount of resources needed. Also being in the ACC hurts us. As much as I hate it, you might as well shrug your shoulders and move on.

Some programs will pour money into WBB because they may not have a legit football program to support. This is the windy road of NIL/Rev Sharing. The schools have to figure out where to allocate funds. UofSc WBB's program lost $6 million last year.Haven’t thought about this in a very long time. Clemson women's basketball had really improved as the season went on. I thought with what they had coming back and with this incredible signing class that Clemson would be pretty good next year (2026-2027) and only be better in the next (2027-2028). Well, I guess the house of cards fall fairly easily...

I have to feel like that’s the way they look at it and they like being best in the country at something. To your point if they didn’t have the women’s team, they would have 6 million more dollars in their pocket. I think the margins are quite narrow for all sports at most schools. I wonder what the true numbers are for football at Clemson when you figure all we spend. Salaries and bricks and mortar and everything.I know this may sound bad but it is a fact. Buzzards Roost said:I hear ya. But this isn't the portal - she hasn't played one minute of college ball. If signing scholarship papers is just a pinky promise then this is utter contract chaos - there are no contracts then. Which makes zero sense. I'm inclined to believe what you posited, which is if she doesn't want to be there, don't invite that negativity into your locker room. I just think it's really crappy business on her and her parents. If you're gonna bolt for more money than don't sign on signing day.Haven’t thought about this in a very long time.
