Our fans are easily the most chronically online and are pretty ruthless. It makes sense if recruits were turned off by that tbh.

Are these coaches that soft that they think when they don’t produce, fans will be happy? Do they expect their players to produce? I agree. These complaints are merely excuses.

This is every fanbase. It’s a lame excuse. We’re usually just the loudest and the most vocal online, so naturally our fanbase is singled out.

John Calipari probably vents that literally everything except for himself was the issue with UK down the stretch of his tenure

There’s 4 games we should’ve won in SEC play that we didn’t. Missouri where we led at the under 4 timeout. Georgia who had lost 5 or their last 6. Auburn who had lost their last 5. Texas A&M who had lost 4 of the last 6. Win those 4 games and we would’ve been a 2 seed in the SEC tourney. Fans wouldn’t have been happy with the blowouts still but it would at least look better and be easier for us to like him.

i could MAYBE see it happening if its a true coin flip for a player, so a rabid fanbase pushes some away. 1. doubt thats true. 2. I dont want players that dont want this spotlight

Pick a thread with more than 20 replies. You’ll have your answer. Nobody cares more than BBN but that also means more negative, nasty people. Trash every player, argue with each other, bash the sources, hurl personal insults at the coaches. Some of you need to look in a mirror and ask yourself some hard questions.

When has Pope been critical of Kentucky’s fanbase? I call bullshit on that. Now Cal was critical late in his tenor here

How about just win? Then see if the fans complain

Do I wish the small minority of idiots on twitter would shut up? Yes. But overall, we are awesome. Reasonable? Not always. The Kentucky fan base is what college sports is (or should be) all about.

I mean what other fanbase would be okay if they had the same results we’ve had since 2020? Other than a few moments, it hasn’t been a fun 6 years but yet fans are always the one to blame.

I think that there are some fans that really need to look in the mirror before they say some of the nasty things they say about anyone. That being said, I absolutely believe that the words of the ugly minority of social media trolling "fans" is used against us. Not everyone can play here. The way a small percentage of fans have treated these athletes is just ugly. Paid or not paid. If you were called some of these words on a daily basis at work, you would find another place to work.

With the fans come the resources. You can miss me with all the look in the mirror stuff and I'm not even a negative poster on here. I'm sure some fan reactions have bothered some players, maybe it's even cost us a recruit, but I'm more sure that seeing the turnout for BBM, the blue/white game, the SEC tourneys (even when we've sucked), and the sheer support has done more for those coaches than it's harmed them.

Sounds like Cal and Pope were attempting to redirect blame when in reality, if the coach is good enough, the players would want to come regardless of a minority of the fan base.

So you guys think it is helpful or no conscience to attack players, or family of players online. Just to get it off YOUR chest.

Is it a lame excuse? Yes. Passion beats apathy 10/10 times. That being said, I have long held that if you are over 25 and interact with players (or their family) on social media, especially in a negative way, you are a loser who needs to seriously reflect on your life choices. 🤷🏻‍♂️
