Wow good for Joe and as much as I loved him as a player I think this is good for Penn State as well imo (meaning I didn't particularly think he did a good job here)...... assuming the hire to replace isn't terrible

@NateBauer any insight on this. I did double check that this was actually Rothstein a couple times to make sure I wasn't fooled lol

Based on our offense this year, this is good for both parties

Kudos to Joe Crispin and I'll be rooting for his success with the Falcons. I had read that he was a candidate, but I'm surprised that he actually landed that gig.
I always worried that Joe's offensive concepts meshed well with those of Rhoades, so I don't think this will be a big loss for Penn State.
Two possible replacements are coaches who worked or played for Rhoades at VCU: recently fired HC Jeremy Ballard at Florida International and Ballard's assistant, Joey Rodriguez.

It was great having Joe back in the State College community. He was involved in his son's sports and I got to know him. A great guy and great family. Good luck to the Crispins.

FirstNine said:Agreed. Couldn't disagree more about whether or not he was effective here. They didn't have very good players and they couldn't play very good defense. It's kind of hard to do anything else when you don't have either of those elements. It was great having Joe back in the State College community. @NateBauer will we see Battle run the offense now? Seems like it could finally be his time to be a top assistant

Sorry to see him go but hope he does well.
Penn State losing two of its favorite sons in Trace and Joe recently. I'm a sucker for PSU alumni coming back.

I want to be delicate here. But we're buried in the thread so I feel like it's OK.
I'm under the impression this was going to be Joe's last season at Penn State whether he got this job or not. And so - form your own opinions at will - but some of the things you're seeing about this being a major blow to the program likely isn't a sentiment shared by the program itself.

If you saw this coming do you know any candidates that Rhoades is looking to hire?
