Nate Oats

Looks like his divorce was real and very easily a reason he couldn’t take the job 2 years ago. Although the $18 MM buyout would have been a sizable hurdle as well.

Oats is a slime bag. Good coach but this stuff will always catch up in the end.

So he cheated on his ex wife now with a staffer that explains the ugly divorce rumors. I guess atleast he didn’t end up in court room like a certain former Michigan football coach. I know for many college basketball players they get connected to coaches families could you imagine how uncomfortable players must felt during that time.

I think I speak for everyone when I say I would much rather have a coach who gets blown the f out in the second round but goes to church every Sunday than a coach who wins at a high level but is a jerk. Yay! Go Kentucky! We have morals!

What has Nate actually won he has zero ncaa titles, if your going bring a lot of baggage atleast bring a title with it.

Besides multiple SEC regular seasons, tournament titles, a final four, multiple elite 8s, etc., I guess nothing.

But at Kentucky that wouldn’t been good enough, if hasn’t won title by year 3 or 4 they would want him fire because that’s not the “ Kentucky standard “ , plus he has more criminals he protected than final fours.

This info shoots down some narratives. I researched the whole Nate Oats rumors stuff pretty deeply one cold day last winter when I was snowed in and could find nothing to substantiate he was going through a divorce when Pope was hired but it now appears it was true. Since none of us have intimate knowledge of what went down I'm not going to throw stones at him for having family issues and a divorce in of itself should not be a disqualification but I have a feeling there is a lot about Nate Oats we don't know and maybe that's why UNC has not made him a top target.

Okay, let’s go with that. What has Pope won?

My coach could worship at the feet of Satan as long as he goes to Final Fours and competes for titles. I don’t judge. Matthew 7:3 tells me not to. I try to be the best person possible, not like all these other judgers.

The water carrying is insane with James. Brags about Pope making back to back tournaments like it's something to be proud of but won't give Oats credit for a final 4, elite 8s, SEC regular season and tournament championships.

And you all want him fired so thanks for proven my point.

The baggage does keeps piling up, but another top 10 program will eventually hire him. I think Nate Oats results speak for themselves, but winning a title in basketball at Bama to prove yourself worthy is kinda excessive.

I could also not find anything of substance and therefore chalked it all up as rumor. I was clearly wrong. Although, it does seem that the divorce happened a year before the Pope hire.

I don’t think other ADs don’t want that baggage especially how much stuff happened off the court at Alabama. Even this season trying get nba player to play in college basketball.

Nothing yet but sweet 16 appearance but also pope hasn’t let a murder play on his team. Playing murder cancels out a final 4 appearances

I don't believe "most" UK fans expect a title every 3 to 4 years. The few that do post on message boards a lot. Most UK fans do expect UK to be in the hunt every year for a title and for an SEC title. But winning them is hard. We've been playing basketball for a long time and only have 8, 4 since 1960. That's 1 every 16 years.

I really don’t like Oats like some of you guys do but he is a winner. But there is zero chance he coaches at Kentucky with his baggage. Zero.

Yeah, Nate Oats has recently went to a Final-4, multiple Elite 8's, won SEC championships and SEC tournament championships since the last time we did any of it. But youre saying he would be fired after 3 or 4 years? :Checks Notes: Wait, didn't Pope just get an extension after one sweet-16? 🤦‍♂️

I need to find that thread where that guy accused me of bringing up rumors that no one legitimate ever brought up lol. Tried to claim crazy UK fans started the rumor and such....even though several in the media hinted at it.
