Yeah, it’s a shame this team seriously underperformed but this guy has been EXCELLENT all season. So much has gone wrong this season that I’m sure you’ve forgotten how unsteady this team was at kicker for the past few seasons.
Bravo, Ryan Barker!

Barker was looking like the MVP of the Pinstripe Bowl in the Third Quarter, when it was 9-3 Lions. He was money., and I think he made himself some money today.

The block against FIU was from 53, but it didn't look to be a trajectory issue. Just a protection breakdown from Onoh on the right side. https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/news/penn-state-kicker-ryan-barker-confident-in-return-to-los-angeles/Just my opinion, but I think his range is fine. He needs to be back, and he needs to finish his career here. We have to make it happen. You do not find consistent kickers like this in college often, he has already won us games. Pay him, and then I want to see him become an Philadelphia Eagle after Elliott.

It’s been addressed above, but he seems to have plenty of leg to me. Even when asked to kickoff the one game this season, they went into the end zone. I’m guessing it’s instead been a CJF analytics issue in that he hasn’t been asked to kick beyond 50.

For perspective…
Barker is tied with New Mexico’s Luke Drzewiecki for highest FG Pct (.947) in the nation this season. They are both 18 for 19.
For his career, Barker is now 33 for 37. Through two years of eligibility, he’s PSU’s all-time most accurate kicker. His .892 career FG pct is is 9.6 pts higher than Penn State’s second most accurate kicker in history, Tyler Davis (min 20 attempts).
He’d have to:
- Miss 18 of his next 24 FGAs to match Robbie Gould’s and Matt Bahr’s careers
- Miss 15 of his next 22 FGAs to match Massimo Manca’s career
- Miss of 17 of his next 38 FGAs to match Sam Ficken’s career
- Miss 12 of his next 24 FGAs to match Brett Conway’s career
- Miss 7 of his next 12 FGAs to match Nick Gancitano’s career
- Miss 6 of his next 12 FGAs to match Tyler Davis’s career
- Miss 14 of his next 30 FGAs to match Jake Pinegar’s career
- Miss 26 of his next 43 FGAs to match Craig Fayak’s career
