Here is the source article, it is worth a read.
https://www.sportico.com/leagues/college-sports/2026/florida-state-athletics-debt-fy25-1234883293/
Overall, Florida State reported $617 million in institutional debt for FY25, with athletics accounting for 71% of that total. For comparison, the school’s athletics-related debt stood at $17 million at the end of FY20, increasing by 2,465% over the next five years.

And this is why saying the admin absolutely made the wrong choice keeping Mike are idiots.
Is it possible they could have swung it and it turned out well? Maybe? But if you think it was an obvious choice you are absolutely not qualified to be an AD

Supyonamesjosh said:The underlying complaint is that we took on two very large financial obligations near simultaneously (FoF and Doak), and then in relatively short order added a third (Norvell + Atkins/Fuller extensions). The FoF and Doak renovation essentially boxed us in. It's highly likely that leadership knew when signing the coaching extensions that we had absolutely no way out of the Norvell contract if things went south given pairing of the FoF and Doak. Which is why some said "don't sign a contract you can't get out of."And this is why saying the admin absolutely made the wrong choice keeping Mike are idiots. The capital expenditure to renovate Doak will eventually pay for itself. The FOF should have been constructed a decade ago when Jimbo requested it. That probably cost the University 50 million extra in construction cost due to the rise in materials post Covid.

FSU91 said:But like.....what if we didn't build a FOF and....waited until Doak's bleachers collapsed from disrepair. That would surely show em, right? Nobody pay attention to the fact that all of those investments were made well before the 2024 fiasco. That's not material to the discussion.Did you think that rebuilding Doak and the new FOF were debt-free?
