4-star IOL Micah Smith sets commitment date

Fort Pierce (Fla.) Vero Beach four-star interior offensive lineman Micah Smith is ready to announce his college decision.
The 6-foot-5.5, 300-pounder posted on Friday via Instagram that he will announce his commitment in eight days on June 7. He will choose between six schools: Alabama, Illinois, Ohio State, South Carolina, Tennessee and UCLA.
Smith is the No. 197 overall prospect and No. 13 IOL in the 2026 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 26 player in Florida.
Thus far, he’s logged official visits to both Illinois and UCLA. The Bruins are currently trending to land the trench monster, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. On3 VP of Recruiting Steve Wiltfong logged a pick in favor of the West Coast Big Ten program earlier this month.
“It would not be surprising if Smith didn’t take any more trips. I’ve logged an On3 RPM for UCLA to land Smith who also took an official to Illinois,” Wiltfong wrote on May 22. “He played in the Under Armour All-America Game in January and would be a huge pickup for Foster and company … It’s trending well.”
As a junior, Smith was a key cog for a Vero Beach team that finished with nine wins. The Fighting Indians finished as the No. 69 team in the Sunshine State, per the On3 Composite Rankings.
“Relationships are important when I commit. The development is too. It is not only the development on the field as a player, but off the field as a man too,” Smith told On3 at the end of December during Under Armour All-America week.
