Clemson transfer RB Marquise Henderson not enrolling at Liberty

Clemson transfer running back Marquise Henderson is not enrolling at Liberty, a source told On3 on Monday morning. The four-star recruit in the 2025 cycle announced his commitment to the Flames in June.
The true freshman was dismissed from Clemson on June 19. Henderson played high school football at Anderson (S.C.) Belton-Honea Path, where he was a four-star prospect.
“Just didn’t work out. We have a standard here, and it just didn’t work out,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said in June. “Hate it for him, but wish him well.”
He was the No. 161 overall player and No. 11-ranked running back out of the 2025 cycle, according to the Rival Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all three major recruiting media companies.

Henderson led Belton-Honea Path to the 2024 state semifinals and had nearly 8,000 total yards across 47 career games. He had 6,369 career rushing yards at the time he signed with Clemson, averaging 11 yards per rush on 577 career carries. In his senior season at Belton-Honea Path, he rushed for 2,122 yards with 26 touchdowns.
Henderson had been on Clemson’s campus since the team was preparing to play in the College Football Playoff back in December. He missed the majority of spring practice due to a hamstring injury, though.
Marquise Henderson was the fourth-highest rated player from Clemson’s 2025 recruiting class. He committed to the Tigers over other Power 4 offers from programs such as Georgia Tech, NC State and Virginia Tech.
