Seventeen-year-old Georgia four-star safety commit Chace Calicut, who was arrested earlier this week on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges stemming from an alleged “road rage” incident earlier this month in Houston, had his bond elevated by a Harris County judge Wednesday, according to KHOU-11 in Houston. The price jumped from $20,000 to $150,000.

The escalation in Calicut’s bond comes just days after his accomplice and fellow Houston (TX) North Shore teammate, 17-year-old Isaiah Phillip, was shot and killed in a separate shooting at a pool party Monday, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Phillips was no longer on the football team entering his senior season, but Calicut is viewed as one of the best high school safeties in the country.

Calicut, who remains in custody at Harris County Jail, and Phillip were charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the July 6 incident. Vehicles were involved there as well, with KPRC2 using the term “road rage.” According to witnesses in the area, Phillips was the one who fired the gunshots. Per the report, nobody involved in the July 6 shooting walked away injured.

FOX26 described the July 6 road rage incident as two people, a 17-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl, were in a different car when Calicut’s vehicle pulled up behind them. Reports say Calicut sped ahead before hitting the brakes and forcing the other car to avoid a collision.

“The teen drove around Calicut’s car and tried to get away, but Calicut pulled up next to him again, court documents allege,” FOX26’s report says. “Calicut was allegedly driving erratically in front of and alongside the teen, and the teen saw Phillip in Calicut’s car with a handgun pointed toward him.

“The teen was able to make a U-turn and drive away from Calicut’s car, but then he heard several gunshots, according to court documents. A friend driving behind the teen reported that he saw Phillip shooting out of the window as they drove away, according to court documents.”
