Auburn on Tuesday continued its push for four-star cornerback Austin Ausberry.

Ausberry, a four-star cornerback from University Lab in Baton Rouge, La., is one of the top recruits on Auburn’s board and the Tigers are making sure he knows it.

Auburn cornerbacks coach Zac Etheridge made an in-home visit with Ausberry Tuesday night.

“My mom and dad and little brother were here,” Ausberry said. “My mom cooked crawfish etouffee and it was good. We ate and talked.”

Ausberry has strong bond with Auburn coaches

Ausberry has developed a good relationship with Etheridge. The two continued to build their bond during the visit.

“I love Coach Zac because he keeps it real,” Ausberry said. “He said that he needed me and wanted me. He told me what he would do for me. He would raise my game both mentally and physically. He’s really into the mental aspect of the game and I really like that.”

Ausberry has noticed Etheridge’s results with Auburn cornerback Roger McCreary.

“(McCreary) was a fourth-round pick, but now he’s a first-round guy,” Ausberry said.

Ausberry also has a strong bond with Trovon Reed, Auburn’s coordinator of player relations. The two spent a lot of time together during Ausberry’s official visit to Auburn in October and remain close.

“I love Coach Reed,” Ausberry said. “That’s my guy right there. We FaceTime’d with him tonight. He was supposed to come, but he was feeling under the weather, so we just FaceTime’d. That was cool. I love talking to him.”

Ausberry expects Auburn coach Bryan Harsin to make an in-home visit next week.

Ausberry eyeing signing day decision

Ausberry has narrowed his focus to five schools: Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Florida and Alabama.

He’s visited each school and now will focus on finishing his senior season before making a commitment.

“I’m just taking some time with my family and thinking about my best options,” Ausberry said. “My state championship game is Dec. 10. I will do it after that.”
