BREAKING: Texas transfer DB Jerrin Thompson commits to Auburn
Texas transfer defensive back Jerrin Thompson has committed to Auburn.
Thompson, who has one year of eligibility, announced his decision Monday on social media. He chose Auburn over Texas.
His decision comes just one day after leaving an official visit to Auburn.
Thompson had 38 tackles, three interceptions and seven pass breakups this past season at Texas. He was named honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2022 after posting career-highs with 83 tackles, one interception and seven pass breakups.
As a sophomore, he played in all 12 games, tallying 41 tackles, three tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one quarterback hurry and three pass breakups.
Thompson, who attended Lufkin (Texas High School, was rated a four-star recruit in the 2020 class, according to the On3 Industry Rankings. As a senior, he totaled 59 tackles, three tackles for loss, two interceptions, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one defensive touchdown.
As a junior, he totaled 90 tackles, four tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups, a forced fumble and an interception.
Thompson is the seventh transfer addition for Auburn this cycle. The Tigers currently have the No. 32 transfer class, according to On3’s Transfer Portal Team Rankings.
