Four-star cornerback A’Mon Lane, one of the top overall recruits in the 2024 class, has committed to Auburn.

Lane, from Moody, Ala., announced his commitment after attending Auburn’s Big Cat event on Saturday.

For Lane, it was an easy decision, a family decision.

“Auburn is family, and I’m big on family,” Lane told AuburnLiveOn3. “My family has a lot of connections to Auburn. My grandmother taught me the game of football. She’s an Auburn fan, so I grew up an Auburn fan.

“My family now is all Auburn fans. Macy, my sister, goes to Auburn. My other sister, Riley, she went to Auburn. My pops is the biggest Auburn fan I know.”

Lane has strong bonds with Auburn coaches

Lane, who is ranked the No. 2 cornerback in the state and No. 11 overall in 2024, also has a deep bond with Auburn cornerbacks coach Zac Etheridge.

“I really like Coach Etheridge,” Lane said. “We have a great relationship. I like that he has played at Auburn and done everything I want to do. I want him to lead me to where I need to be.”

And do so under coach Bryan Harsin.

“I really like Coach Harsin,” Lane said. “My first time going there and meeting him, there’s just something about him. The energy he brings … he’s the real deal. Coach Harsin is big on family. He’s not like other coaches and not going to be real with you. He’s going to make you the best you can be.”

Etheridge and Harsin both expressed to Lane in June that they wanted him to get the 2024 defensive class started.

“So that’s what I’m doing,” Lane said. “That’s what I just did. I’m ready to get this thing rolling.”

Lane, who is 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds, is the No. 225 overall recruit in the class and the No. 27 cornerback, according to the On3 Consensus. He chose Auburn over offers from LSU, Florida State, Michigan, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Arkansas, among others.
