Following the future: Where Auburn commits are playing this week

It’s another busy week for those of you wanting to keep track of Auburn’s current 2023 and 2024 football commits.

To assist you, here’s a look at who they’ll be facing …

(Note: All games Friday unless otherwise noted)

Terrance Love, S, Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes: Langston Hughes (11-0) plays host to North Forsyth (Ga.), which is 8-3, in the second round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. CT. Love has 41 tackles, including 19 solos, 1 interception and two pass breakups — and eight receptions for 188 yards and three touchdowns.

Jeremiah Cobb, RB, Montgomery Catholic (Ala.): Montgomery Catholic (12-0) plays Roanoke (Ala.) Handley in a third-round playoff game. Handley is 11-1. Kickoff is 7 p.m. CT. Cobb has 139 carries for 1,769 yards and 21 touchdowns — plus 16 receptions for 377 yards and five touchdowns. The Handley defense allows about 18 points a game. Montgomery Catholic scores 54 points a game.

Adam Hopkins, WR, Thomasville (Ga.) Thomas County Central: Thomas County Central (11-0) plays host to Atlanta (Ga.) St. Pius, which is 6-5, in the second round of the playoffs. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. CT. Hopkins has 28 catches for 419 yards and six touchdowns this season. Thomas County Central scores 40 points a game.

Jamarrion Harkless, DT, Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass: Frederick Douglass (12-0) plays host to Woodford County (Ky.), which is 11-1, in the third round of the playoffs. Kickoff is 6:30 p.m. CT. Harkless leads a defense that allows just under five points a game.

Daquayvious Sorey, WR, Chipley (Fla.): Chipley (10-0) plays host to Baker (Fla.), which is 8-3, in the first round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. CT. Sorey has 52 receptions for 1,012 yards and 15 touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 93 yards on 12 carries.

Wilky Denaud, Edge, Fort Pierce (Fla.) John Carroll: John Carroll (8-1) plays host to Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney, which is 4-6, in the first round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. CT. Denaud leads a John Carroll defense that gives up 12 points a game. He has 48 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss and 4 sacks this season.

Bradyn Joiner, C, Auburn (Ala.): Auburn (11-1) plays Phoenix City (Ala.) Central, which is 10-2, in the third round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. CT. Joiner, Auburn’s first commit in the 2023 class, starts at tackle. Auburn High averages 38.5 points a game. Central allows only 16 points a game. Central beat Auburn 38-17 during the regular season.

Jacorious Hart, CB, Auburn (Ala.) Loachapoka: SEASON OVER. Hart had a strong season and in one recent game had an interception and returned it 92 yards for a touchdown.

Ashley Williams, Edge, Zachary (La.): Zachary (8-2) plays host to West Monroe (La.), which is 8-2, in the second round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. CT. Williams had 43 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, two pass deflections and a forced fumble at last check. West Monroe scores 35 points a game.

Clay Wedin, OT, Tampa (Fla.) Carrollwood Day: Carrollwood Day (5-3) is at St. Petersburg (Fla.) Northside Christian, which is 8-1, in the first round of the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. CT.

Here are the 2024 Auburn commits

-2024, Adrian Posse, QB, Hialeah Gardens (Fla.) Mater Academy Charter (3-7): SEASON OVER. Posse missed the first half of the season. At last check, he had completed 33 of 53 passes for 419 yards and four touchdowns.

-2024-A’Mon Lane, CB, Moody (Ala.): SEASON OVER. Lane had 55 total tackles and nine pass breakups this season.
