Gernorris Wilson is ready to return to Auburn. And more than once.

The 3-star offensive tackle/guard from Lakeland (Fla.), who visited the Tigers in June, hopes to be back on campus in late July for Big Cat Weekend and already has locked in an official visit to Auburn.

Not only that, but when asked which college is recruiting him hardest, Wilson replied, “Auburn.”

“They’re definitely in my top five,” he added.

Wilson is listed at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds. According to our intel, he has lost 40 pounds since last fall while reshaping his body. Several colleges have taken notice of this transformation, including Auburn, which offered him a scholarship in June.

He can play multiple positions on the offensive line

He’s a swing lineman, meaning he could play guard or tackle in college. It is to be determined which position Wilson would project at should he land at Auburn.

“I can play anything,” Wilson said.

Wilson played at Lakeland’s Lake Gibson High last season, but has since transferred to Lakeland High, he said. While both programs are typically solid, Lakeland High arguably is one of the top-five programs in the history of high school football in the Sunshine State. And it is located in Polk County (between Orlando and Tampa), where football is king as much as any place in Florida.

Wilson is the No. 104 recruit in the state of Florida for On3 and is ranked as the No. 62 tackle nationally. He claims 23 offers.

As for his aforementioned top five, Wilson declined to say who else was in it. He added that he remains fairly open and doesn’t plan to commit until the end of his senior season.

His next trip to Auburn could be an important one

Regarding Big Cat …

“I’ll most likely be there,” Wilson said. “I’m going to bring my mom up there, so she can see what I’ve seen. It’s a very, very important (visit).”

Wilson’s official visit to Auburn is set for Sept. 16, the weekend the Tigers play host to Penn State. That’s the only official Wilson has scheduled thus far.

According to Wilson, offensive analyst Joe Bernardi  has been his primary point of contact with Auburn.

“I talk to them almost every day,” Wison said. “He’s a really nice dude. I like him a lot. Great person. Nice, chill dude. We just talk a lot, honestly just about colleges. I have a high chance of starting as a true freshman (at Auburn). I’m going to be an early enrollee.”
