Clay Wedin, a 3-star offensive lineman from Carollwood Day (Fla.) High in Tampa, made news Monday night when he decommitted from Michigan State per his Twitter.

Wedin is ranked the No. 427 overall recruit in the 2023 On3 Consensus, a complete and equally-weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

This was somewhat unexpected, but was notated as a possibility in Auburn Live’s War Room Plus feature on Monday morning.

Since that decommitment, Auburn has surged in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). The RPM combines data such as recruiting visits, social media, proximity of hometown and school, and expert intel and predictions.

The Tigers now have a 76.3 percent chances of landing the 6-foot-6 290 pound offensive lineman according to the RPM.

Four visits to Auburn

Wedin has taken visits to schools such as Michigan State, Alabama, Florida State, Florida, and Auburn among others. He has been to Auburn more than to any other school. A recent trip for the Auburn-LSU matchup on Oct. 1 marked the fourth trip to Auburn since November of 2021.

Wedin took official visits in the summer to Auburn, Michigan State, and Miami. Shortly after the Michigan State visit, he committed to the Spartans on June 14.

Expert predictions

As of Tuesday, there are four recruiting expert prediction in for Wedin to commit to Auburn. One prediction was made in February when Auburn was seen as the trending team. Another is a prediction for Michigan State made in the summer when he committed.

Two new predictions for the Tigers have come in from Auburn Live recruiting experts Jeffrey Lee and Keith Niebuhr.

Michigan State continues to have a 20.5 percent chance to add Wedin back into the fold, but that percentage is dropping as the number rises for Auburn.
